A couple of years ago I had visited a very old but still functioning sugar cane processing factory, called Ingenio Amistad (friendship factory). I had a pretty good idea where it was but let myself convince to go the opposite direction ... in the Dominican Republic there is no such thing as complete control over time and place anyway, so we ended up in a different -but silent- factory at Monte Llano.

It took more than some financial convincing to visit this place : to make a long story short : the supervisor was not to be part of the deal, and his estimated absence of no more than an hour was the time window for the visit.
